..... o_O;; I think the cat's high on cleaning fumes. XD I'm actually like, mopping the floor for the first time in longer than I care to think about. -_-;; Dishes done and everything! O_O;; Kitchen hasn't been thisclean since, like, I forget when. >_<** No, I'm not big on housework. Need a maid. XD Or at least an house elf, just not Dobby. XD

From Deb. XD And it's so true, too. XD

The Book of My Enemy Has Been Remaindered
--Clive James (1939- )

The book of my enemy has been remaindered
And I am pleased.
In vast quantities it has been remaindered
Like a van-load of counterfeit that has been seized
And sits in piles in a police warehouse,
My enemy's much-prized effort sits in piles
In the kind of bookshop where remaindering occurs.
Great, square stacks of rejected books and, between them, aisles
One passes down reflecting on life's vanities,
Pausing to remember all those thoughtful reviews
Lavished to no avail upon one's enemy's book --
For behold, here is that book
Among these ranks and banks of duds,
These ponderous and seemingly irreducible cairns
Of complete stiffs.

The book of my enemy has been remaindered
And I rejoice.
It has gone with bowed head like a defeated legion
Beneath the yoke.
What avail him now his awards and prizes,
The praise expended upon his meticulous technique,
His individual new voice?
Knocked into the middle of next week
His brainchild now consorts with the bad buys
The sinker, clinkers, dogs and dregs,
The Edsels of the world of moveable type,
The bummers that no amount of hype could shift,
The unbudgeable turkeys.

Yea, his slim volume with its understated wrapper
Bathes in the blare of the brightly jacketed Hitler's War Machine,
His unmistakably individual new voice
Shares the same scrapyart with a forlorn skyscraper
Of The Kung-Fu Cookbook,
His honesty, proclaimed by himself and believed by others,
His renowned abhorrence of all posturing and pretense,
Is there with Pertwee's Promenades and Pierrots--
One Hundred Years of Seaside Entertainment,
And (oh, this above all) his sensibility,
His sensibility and its hair-like filaments,
His delicate, quivering sensibility is now as one
With Barbara Windsor's Book of Boobs,
A volume graced by the descriptive rubric
"My boobs will give everyone hours of fun".

Soon now a book of mine could be remaindered also,
Though not to the monumental extent
In which the chastisement of remaindering has been meted out
To the book of my enemy,
Since in the case of my own book it will be due
To a miscalculated print run, a marketing error--
Nothing to do with merit.
But just supposing that such an event should hold
Some slight element of sadness, it will be offset
By the memory of this sweet moment.
Chill the champagne and polish the crystal goblets!
The book of my enemy has been remaindered
And I am glad.

I KNEW I was forgetting something - the spa kit from Moim and Cecil. XD Is very fun - has bubble bath, two flavors of bath salts, bath oil, lotion, and a bath mitt. XD Between that, the bubble bath Brian gave me and the Christmas Hello Kitty stuff I got on clearance yesterday, I'm going to be one big raison. <3

Posted by amy @ 11:01 AM PST [Link]

Why do we get coloring books and crayons for Christmas at our age? Besides being a lot of fun - Mom gets the Dover coloring books and the last three years have been Japanese theme ones XD - they and the box of Lifesavers are a reminder of where we came from. When we were little, we were extremely poor - so poor it makes me look like a whiny brat for complaining about my (abet small) income now - and there were years that that was all Mom could afford to buy us for Christmas. So now when we look at our piles of gifts and see the coloring books, we're reminded of how much we've been blessed with. <3

Posted by amy @ 02:11 AM PST [Link]

Christmas loot (this is more to remind me who need thank you cards than anything else XD) --

Meg - Sweet Coron (the Sanrio bubble bee XD) pen case and a Sigmund Freud action figure (don't ask XD)

Parents - $50 Target card, $10 Starbucks card, Starbucks mints/gum set (package each of cinnimon gum, peppermint gum, peppermints and cinnamon mints), Starbucks tin set with biscotti, tea cookies and pound of coffee, Starbuck mug (.... hey, I like Starbucks stuff, ok? XD I collect the mugs, the card is great for the end of the month when I Need My Latte and have no cash, and I can always use coffee XD), crocheted hat Mom found at a craft fair, Life in Old Japan coloring book and a box of crayons, Lifesavers book, a box of chocolate, and something else that I know I'm forgetting. XD

Grandparents - Sushi board of Japanese cypress with wasabi/soy sauce bowl, a box of Good Nori with a bamboo mat, and a pound of coffee.

Patti/Mom (family exchange) - $20 bill

David (cousin exchange) - $20 gift certificate to Kinokuniya

Carrie - yaoi CDs XD

Sakki - An Unquiet Mind, forgot the author, from my Amazon.com list, about manic-depressive disorder <3

Shi-chan - keychain and letter / address book set <3

K-chan - CDs

Brian - bottle of pear cider and Hello Kitty bubble bath XD

GL - baby paintbrush for NeoCrack and something else I haven't gotten yet

I have a nasty feeling I'm forgeting something, but that's 95% of it. *_*

I have kitten on my lap and laying on my right arm, so I'm typing one-handed. Christmas recount soon - spent the last 36 hours having seizures, because of a triple-whammy of stress, being sick, and pre-menstrual. >___<** Better now, just not all the way recovered yet. o_o; Brian came over for a while, which helped, because I have a Thing about letting Mom know about me having a cluster of seizures cos she worries. ^_^;;

Happy almost Christmas to everyone. <3 Meg and I are going to the mall later to drink lattes and watch the idiots. <3 Because we are done shopping and they are not. XD

Had G'ma's birthday with Jacob, Brad and Alicia since Robin was at work, and Alicia helped decorate the gingerbread house with Mom, G'ma and I while the Boys watched football. XD Much more fun than drowning in testostrone. XD And puppy boy just about went crazy with the kids over. XD

36 hours to prezzies! XD

I woke up this morning to someone washing my nose. o_o;; Which, while being very cute, is still disturbing. XD She was sprawled on my chest and evidentally thought it was Time For Me To Be Up. And then, after I'm up and actually doing things like getting ready to go to Mom's, she plops on my lap and falls asleep. o_o;;

In other non-cat news! XD I got the CDs! From Shirley! XD So now! I have lots of C-Pop! XD Like, 5 CDs of A-Mei and 5 CDs with random other people and a mix CD! XD

..... Chinese pop music is an aquired taste, yes, but it's such a fun one. XD

*David, Kelly, Darrin and baby show up*
Amy: *walks into dining room, see's Kinokuniya envolope*
Amy: SQUEEEEE!!!!! XD XD XD I LOVE YOU, DAVID!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3
David: XD Well, it was pretty obvious what you wanted, being as you GAVE DIRECTIONS to the store AND the address, and it wasn't that far from me. XD
Amy: <3 <3 <3

One of the few men left alive that knows how to take a hint, cute, sweet, smart, nice, and HE'S MY FIRST COUSIN, DAAAAMMIT. XD XD XD If he weren't related to me, I'd SO jump him. And Mom would be haaaaappy. XD But anyway. <3

Party was fun. <3 Lots Of Family and Small Children - about 20 people in G'ma's 1976 double-wide, which is a, er, cozy fit, but lots of fun. XD I got an Uncle John's Bathroom Reader out of the $5 gift exchange / party game. XD My votive lamps didn't get fought over as much as I would have liked, but all in all, a blast. XD Beka pronouned the Death of the pig boxers a bit soon, since Uncle Joe took them from her so they'd be back next year. XD

..... The pig boxers are a pair of XXXL pig print boxers that say "Oink Oink Oink" on the waistband that have been passed around at the party for about eight years now. XD David passed around an evlie rumor that he gave them away at an office party, but they were back with the Bah Humbug hat that Joe'd been trying to get for almost as long, and a Nightmare Before Christmas mask. XD Yeah, my family's weird. <3

Letter to cousin RE: family gift exchange. Yeah, we're all real subtle. XD

I know it's kinda last minute, but Dave confessed to me in a panic last night that he drew YOUR name, and has NO FREAKIN IDEA what kinda stuff you want/need. Care to give me any suggestions I can pass along in confidence? ;)

Well, house colors are lavender, baby blue, butter yellow and leaf green. <3 I like strawberries (I started to type 'strawberrykisses' as in my domain - how's that for habit? XD) and Asian theme stuff, too. XD If he's REALLY deseparate, he can drive down to Kinokuniya (Hwy. 217 to Hwy 10 - exit 2A, Canyon Rd XD - east at the light after the exit and down about a mile, past the Target, across the street from Burger King and inside Uwajimaya. XD If you hit Beaverton Town Center, you went the wrong way at the light - the address is 10500 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy.) and get his baby cousin a gift certifcate so she can buy X volume 18 by CLAMP and Alice 19th volume 5 by Watase Yuu. <3 But that's just a suggestion, of course. <3

Another QMR forward, but you know what? I don't care. It's funny. XD

Holiday Eating Tips

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that ithas 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-aholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.

I'm Told by Shirley that the kanji for the kitten's name looks boyish in Chinese. XD Jeffery's says that it isn't classified yet by gender, so I figure we're ok. XD She got out for a while today, but I found her sitting outside looking very cold. XD I told her that while being inside all the time might be boring, at least it's warm and there's Food. XD Right now I'm getting glared at because my arm keeps hitting her ear while i'm typing. <3 Too bad for kitties. <3

'More haste, less speed,' said Cressida, in a rage with herself, the wind and the snow and the terrifying feeling that she was alone in a strange world. She had dropped the torch too, but luckily it was not broken. She picked it up and shone it ahead of her and was almost blinded by the beam of another torch. It was too much; she screamed and was instantly engulfed by the doctor's great arms.

'Silly girl, it is I!' he bellowed in her ear.

Even in a trying situation such as this, she thought, he gets his grammar right, and she promply burst into tears.

Um, yeah, so she moved in, and is indeed a complete lap slore. XD XD XD She was very cute earlier when Brian and I got back for doing things and getting kitty supplies - Brian was laying on me and she was laying on Brian and my arm. XD She also tried to kill the scrap scarf I was making earlier, so I made her a t0y. <3 She knows how to use a litter box - all I had to do was show her where it was - and she's had some food and water and and and . . . XD

But she still needs a name. o_o;; Any ideas?

I have a new friend. <3 She's very cute and has tabby stripes and has been blobbed on my lap most of the night. She's also been Eyeing the keyboard because I'm typing and not petting her. XD Her Highness delined to lay down on the couch for 5 seconds, but now she wants back on the lap. XD If she does stay as moved in as she seems to think she is, I'll have to talk to our NP about her and have her write a note saying I Need A Cat. ^_^;; We're not techically allowed pets here without a doctor's note, but the manager's cool. XD The main thing would be feeding her AND me, but we'll worry about it if it comes to that. Another problem is that I'm going to Mom's for about a week, and if I took her with me, Obake would EAT her. ^_^v We'll see. Right now I'm trying not to name her until I'm sure if she's going to stay. <3 But since she was an Agency Cat, I don't think I have much choice in the matter. XD

I'm collecting Coffee items. Because I can. XD XD XD Cheaper and easier that most things, anyway. <3

Got 90% of the shopping done and it's most likely going to have to rest there. ^_^;; We usually get our December checks last day of finals, but with the switch in payroll systems, we're not getting paid until the 31st. ;_; That's, like, half of my Christmas money. o_o;;; Eeee.

And speaking of Christmas presents, I've tied more square knots today than I care to think about. ^_^;; Claire is impossable to shop for, because she saves candy instead of eating it - as in, has stuff from before M&C got married - and if you buy Fun Bath Fings, she saves those. o_o; What's the point? XD So I made her a blanket that's basicly two pieces of fleece knotted together, with a matching pillow done with the leftover fabric. The pillows take 5 minutes to do and the blankets take an hour, TOPS, and there's no sewing. XD Just my attention span. XD I couldn't find the color I wanted for the back of Claire's blanket at Wally*World, so I went to Jo-Ann's on River Road. Lo and behold, all fleece 50% off. *_* I got more to use for a blanket for G'ma's birthday present, since she was snoggling my blanket pretty heavily when I was down last. XD

Today I was at the mall getting some Christmas stuff done, and I stopped by the Tupperware booth. XD The girl who was manning it was about my age and she has some piercings. I told her I was using one of the little sauce cup things (Midgee) to soak my belly piercing with. XD She hadn't thought of using one like that - she'd used paper cups and had them spill everywhere. o_o But the damn things are the PERFECT size for it, hard sided, AND dishwashable. XD

Wonder if she'll mention it at her next party? XD

o_o My soda is on the other side of the room and I don't want to get up to grab it. It's been one of those days where all I want to do is go back to bed, but I can't and so I do things like I'm supposed to but all I really want to do is go back to bed with about five thick blankets, a cat to sleep on top of them and a bunch of books to read. O_o But alas, no cat and only two thick blankets, so I'm doing laundry, more stuff to the domains and cleaning house. -_-;;; *sigh*

Posted by amy @ 05:00 PM PST [Link]

I went to Staples to see if they had CD envolopes - plain ones that I could use for Christmas cards XD - and looking around, and saw that they had 3 cameras in a package for $5. Fun, I think, for $5 I'll take them to the Christmas Fing and everybody can take pictures without having to worry about breaking someone else's camera. So I e-mail Mom about it.

Amy: I found three disposable cameras - with flash - in a package at Staples for $5. XD I thought that maybe we could pass them around at the Christmas party? What do you think?
amy

Mom: Wonderful!, Could you get one for me to send to Patti?
Love ya!

*SNERK* I could just SEE the wheels clicking in Mom's head. XD
.oO (So G'ma IS going to get PICTURES of her grandchildren that live ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STATE, right, dear? Since you can't drive here for Christmas? ;_; See, cameras. XD And, look! Money to develope them too~! <3 YOUR MOTHER WANTS PICTURES. <3 <3 <3)

!!!!!!!!! "You Won 20,000 Neopoints!!!!!!" <-- From the Buried Treasure game on NeoCrack. XD XD XD I guess it is time to find the bunker. XD

Posted by amy @ 03:42 PM PST [Link]

Either the Universe has decided that Take A Dump On Amy Week is over, or I should find a steel bunker. XD I won $20 off of a $2 lotto ticket that I got at Albie's for the family gift exchange -- I just decided to scratch one off since the $6 of lotto tickets I bought was a bit over the $5 gag gift limit and I had something to put with them already. XD On the way back from cashing that, I stopped by St. Vinnie's to look around, and I found three Betty Neels book - two that I haven't read before <3 - and a LM Montgomery book that I love and have been wanting a copy of since our's went into storage. XD XD XD

...... So now I'm not sure if this is an apology for how shitty last week was or if it's a sign to find a bunker and take cover while I can. XD I'm hoping it's an apology, planning like I need a bunker. <3

"A couple's happy married life almost went on the rocks because of the presence in the household of old Aunt Emma. For seventeen long years she lived with them, always crotchety, always demanding.

Eventually, the old girl passed away.

On the way back from the cemetery, the husband confessed to his wife, "Darling, if I didn't love you so much, I don't think I could have put up with having your Aunt Emma in the house all those years." @_@ I hate dead week. All the people who should have been in week 2 or 3 of the term show up and expect me to work miracles with their grade. I don't THINK so. And if they had it their way, I'd work finals, too, but if they don't know it by dead week, there ain't nothing I can can do to help. -_-;;; But! I'm DONE! Until January! XD So the current plan is to lock myself in the house for a week or so and catch up with all the stuff I've been putting of, like, say, housework. XD I need to code the new sk.com layout, and do some more back-end work on both domains. ^_^;

Posted by amy @ 04:04 PM PST [Link]

...... a.org's first layout was B-Wanted, too. Seems to be a habit. XD But I really couldn't resist it, since the domain is Sunao.net, and even if Sunao did end up with the Wrong Boy, I still love the series. XD XD XD

Anyway, I dumped Blogger for Grey Matter, and so far I like it. If nothing else, my server is way more stable than Blogger's ever dreamed about being. XD s.net is registered for two years, so hopefully we avoid what happened to a.org. >_<*****
