XD There's one couple that shows up two times after their book that I know of - once as young marrieds and the other as middle-aged Dircector Of The Hospital types - and she cameos other characters all the time. It makes you want to dig up every book she ever wrote so you can find all the people she throws in just to see if you're paying attention. XD ... yeah, one of the old Omnibuses I found has Julius and Georgina's story in it; A Damsel In Green. XD They show up again with two kids in A Small Slice Of Summer - one of the girls that George was in nursing school with's younger sister ends up with Julius' best friend. XD XD XD I'd read the second one, and now I get to read the first bit. <3 <3 <3 .... and I guess that's what got me into anime and manga - the little in jokes and continueties that you don't find a lot of elsewhere, or not that I've found that I care about. It's in any fandom, but finding the one that you like is the hard bit. But going from romance reading to shoujo anime and manga is just about the easiest switch to make - a lot of it's the same sort of jokes and conventions, just in a different language. With a personal best of 24 hours, two doses of the med, rash, hives, trouble breathing, a trip to the ER via ambulance and an IV of saline, benadryl and pepcid later, I have officially failed drug number six. >_<*** About 20% of the people who try it react badly to it, but if you CAN tolerate it, it's great. Mom wanted me to go home with her tonight, but I feel better being at home with my own bed and my own cat. XD I'm taking 2 benadryl every six hours until the rash and hives go away, and I need to call the neuro on Monday and get the meds switched again. -_-;;; ... The VNS is looking better and better all the time. XD Posted by amy @ 08:10 PM PST [Link] Friday, January 17, 2003 I was doing some research on the VNS thing, and it turns out that it's a fairly effective treatment for depression. *_* As in 20% of the patients in a study done by the U of South Carolina went into complete remission and over 50% had significant improvement. *__* I can't take anti-depressants with the AEDs, so if it worked, it'd be WAY cool. XD lazulisong: if they can find YOU a treatment that works and incidentally might take care of your depression, why the hell can't they find one for ME? /mid-January The way it works for depression is that it evidently stimulates the limbric system in the brain, which, re: Psych 201, is one of the main emotional centers. This is sounding like a better and better idea all the time, and Blue Cross even covers it. XD Whee! I have a video to watch for it and a packet, so I'm going to look at it tonight. It's nothing he does, it's just the memories and associations are too strong. ^_^;; I get in there, and I feel like I'm a little girl missing a day of school to see the Bwain Doctor while he and Mom talk over my head. -_-;; Thus, switching to Dr. Edmonds, who Meg saw last spring in the middle of all her testing. I liked her a lot and I don't think I'll have quite the same mental block with her. ^_^;; Refuse refuse refuuuuuuuse to take Tegretol again. Hate it hate it hate it. >_<* I can't THINK, I sleep all the fucking time, and my short-term memory is ZERO. Like, tell me something and ask again in three minutes, and I'll look at you and say "Huh?". Or I'll repeat myself five times because I don't remember saying it. Thinking is too hard, cos I can't concentrate and doing math or anything like that is out of the question. I used to be on the school mental math team in grade school, but when I started on Tegretol in sixth grade, I couldn't add two and two without a calculator. >_<* So will not will not will not take again if I have any choice in the matter. Besides all that, I would like to have Short People eventually, and Tegretol is Not Good to be taking if you're pregnant. So need find something that would at least have a lower risk of birth defects, if nothing else. Also need to find out if I can just take a maintence dose of something and jack it up if I need to cos I can pretty much point on a calender when I'm likely to have a seizure - with odds going up if I'm PMSing, stressed and or sick at the same time. o_o;; If I get all three at once, I'm majorly screwed. -_-;; Need to check about a anti-depressant that would mix well with a AED, and also need to talk to her about getting a prescription for the cat so she can be here Officially. XD Because, you see, there's no PETS allowed here, but if it's a Companion Animal, that's an Americans with Disablities Act accommodation. XD I don't take advantage of it very often, but is nice to be able to say "ADA~! XD" on occasion. XD I don't talk about being epileptic very often anymore, and I'm pretty careful about who knows in RL. If anyone asks, I'll tell them, but the only people I TELL are Bosses - and that AFTER I've been hired, you know? People are scared of what they can't see. Coming out as being epileptic is almost as bad as coming out as gay - and in some ways worse. For one thing, people tend not to doubt your competence just because you're gay. -_-;; And while 95% of the people I tell are very supportive, there's a bit of doubt that goes with that. Is she going to go into convulsions now? What do I do? What do I say? Even when I point out that I've had two convulsions in the last 10 YEARS, it's still there. It can be rough on relationships too. Brian made a comment once that stung - he was joking and didn't mean it the way it came out, but it still hurt. I don't use my seizures for any sort of excuse EVER. If I say I'm having a bad day and need to take some time out, I mean it. Period. It'd be too easy to take advantage of it, and I WON'T. I can't do that, or I'll sink into being Disabled and live on $900 a month for the rest of my life, and I refuse to do that. Being poor SUCKS. I'd like to have at least one period in my life where I can buy a dress or go on a trip or party a couple of nights and NOT have to starve the rest of the month. -_-;; But you know the thing that really makes me disabled, believe it or not, is not being able to drive. Go look through the Help Wanted ads sometime and count the higher end - not McJob - listings that say 'vaild DL or ablity to aquire' on them. There's more than I care to think about, and even your average college program assumes you have a drivers licence, if not a car. It's beyond fustrating. If I could get my licence I don't know that I'd keep a car, but it'd make life 300% easier. -_-;; But if I had had the choice, I would have gotten my licence the day I turned 16. >_<** Eh, don't mind me. XD They have a listing of all the places that take Section 8 in Portland - or at least Multnomath County which is most of Portland proper - and I'm looking into moving there. <3 Need to e-mail Kelly again about neighborhoods. o_o;; Terri might know, but she lives in Canby, not actually Portland. Can't move until at least June, because _I'd_ kill me if I left LCC before the end of the school year, and the Section 8 lease here isn't up until May 14th. When I got a ride back to Wally*World to catch the bus back! I saw a sweater! And G'ma bought it for me! XD It's green and flufy and cute - I've had my eye on it and a purple one like it for a while, but it was on clearance. XD XD XD I'll have to go to my Wal*Mart and see if they have any of the purple ones left. <3 The way the Saturday buses work to Cottage Grove is they go to Village Center first, do the loop through town and leave from Wal*Mart on the way out, so we get off at VC and Mom or whoever's driving meets us there. Weekdays they stop at Wal*Mart first and then do the loop through town. XD We're pretty lucky with the level of service we have to CG, considering it's a rural route - 7 times a day during the week, three times a day on Saturday and twice a day on Sunday; the only other rural route with Sunday service is Mckenzie Bridge, going way out half way to Sisters. XD Endded up with four different furuku calenders this year - Ribon, Nakayoshi, Ciao and LaLa. o_o Up until lst year, I had never gotten any, last year I got two, and now I have more than I know what to do with. XD That's a good problem. XD LaLa 12 had the last issue of Kanata Kara in it, with a poster and stickers to go with. <3 Meg is threatening to chew up my new phonebooks or teach Shouko to respond to the name "Monkey" if I don't give it to her, but it's her own damn fault for not checking LaLa. :P Hakuron is 18 according to Haou Airen 2 and still in high school which made my brain REALLY bleed - he's in a seifuku!
